Jodhpur: Salman Khan was today sent to five years in jail after being convicted in a 19-year-old blackbuck poaching case. Co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were acquitted.
After sentencing, Salman was taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail where he will spend the night before his bail hearing tomorrow.
According to the court order that convicted Salman Khan of killing blackbucks 19 years ago, the judge held that the “accused is a famous film actor and deed [sic] done by him can be followed by public.” Salman Khan killed two blackbucks for enjoyment, the court observed as it convicted the actor and sentenced him to five years in jail.
Salman Khan has been assigned inmate number 106 at the Jodhpur Central Jail. He will received jail uniform on Friday, informs authority.
